Rev. Dr. George Shears III is a pastor, preacher, and leader committed to building healthy people and healthy churches through clear teaching, sound doctrine, and strong pastoral care. Known for “making it plain,” he communicates the Gospel with conviction and clarity to audiences from every walk of life.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from Benedict College, a Master of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University, a Master of Sacred Theology from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from Charlotte Christian College & Theological Seminary.
He serves as Senior Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock and Conway, Arkansas, one church in two locations. Under his leadership, New Hope has experienced membership growth and expanded community partnerships and involvement. He also created an on-demand teaching portal to support spiritual formation beyond Sunday, and he is the chief editor of Preaching Guru, a weekly newsletter dedicated to strengthening preachers and church leaders.
His first ministry is his family, his wife, Kiya Ward Shears, and their two sons. He enjoys reading, writing, and golf, and he is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
